The primary contender in the election is Fuad Laguda from the All Progressives Congress (APC), aspiring to succeed Gbajabiamila in the House of Representatives.

After casting his vote, Gbajabiamila spoke with the press, addressing the prevailing insecurity in the country. He asserted that the security challenges faced by Nigeria are not unique to the nation, expressing confidence that the current administration is actively working to address the issue. Gbajabiamila conveyed optimism about the government’s commitment to implementing new strategies to tackle the security situation.

Furthermore, Gbajabiamila touched upon the inevitability of removing fuel subsidy, citing the need to counteract fraudulent practices benefiting a few individuals. He emphasized that the elimination of the subsidy was a necessary step to address the exploitation of the system for personal gain.
