Accompanied by members of the State Executive Council, including Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, Commissioner for the Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Sola Giwa, and other senior officials, the governor inspected the traffic gridlock along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, near Mile-2 Bus Stop.

He declared a zero-tolerance stance on all forms of environmental nuisances within the region and throughout the entire state.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also addressed the potential reintroduction of the environmental sanitation day in the state, which was discontinued by his predecessor, Akinwunmi Ambode, due to legal challenges.

He stressed the importance of reinstating this practice, highlighting that the state government would no longer tolerate environmental misconduct.

He stated, “We have conducted an inspection along Lagos-Badagry Expressway and have observed the efforts of our taskforce in securing the entire Right of Way (RoW), removing various unauthorized activities and illegal trading.

I am pleased with what I witnessed, and I had the opportunity to explain our actions to shop owners and residents. They recognized the necessity of our efforts.”

Governor Sanwo-Olu continued, “Previously, commercial vehicles were parked on the Expressway. We have successfully cleared the area, especially on the right-hand side, where containers and traders used to occupy permanently. We plan to enclose the entire area and create a clean environment for beautification.”

He also mentioned that on the opposite side, there remains work to be done, but notices have been given to the relevant parties. Starting next week, a comprehensive cleanup operation will be carried out in that area by the taskforce.
