In light of this, Ejimakor emphasized that if the Nigerian government were to release Kanu, it would be an act of righteousness in the eyes of God.

He expressed this sentiment by citing biblical passages that caution against the consequences of sin.

In his message on X, he wrote: “‘Righteousness exalts a nation, but SIN is a reproach to any people’ – Proverbs 14:34.

‘Your INIQUITIES have made a separation between you & your God & your sins have hidden his face from you …’ – Isaiah 59:2.

‘Detaining #MNK is a sin; an iniquity. End it & see the face of God.'”

Nnamdi Kanu has been in custody since June 2021, when he was re-arrested in Kenya and brought back to Nigeria. He was subsequently held by the Department of State Services (DSS) while his trial continued.
