Major Police Operation Leads To Death Of Eight Bandits At FCT-Kaduna BorderThe anti-kidnapping unit of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has successfully neutralized eight suspected bandits. This was confirmed by the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Abuja on Monday. CP Disu stated that the eight bandits were killed during a gunfight with police operatives, while some members of the armed group managed to flee with gunshot injuries. The arrested individuals include Abdulrahman Giwa, Baba Hassan, Mohammed Dahiru, Abubakar Bature (alias Dare), Abubakar Kadiri (known as Dayi), and Kabiru Ibrahim.

According to the Commissioner, the six apprehended suspects were linked to a kidnapping and banditry gang previously led by a now-deceased figure responsible for numerous kidnappings in the FCT and surrounding Niger and Kaduna areas. ā€œDuring the operations to assault the bandits’ strongholds in Kweri and Gauraka forests, eight suspects were neutralized following an intense exchange of gunfire,ā€ Disu explained.

He also reported that two members of the anti-kidnapping team sustained gunshot wounds and are currently receiving medical treatment. Disu emphasized that intelligence indicates the kidnapping gangs are holding hostages in various locations, including Gidan Dogo Forest in Kaduna, Gauraka Forest in Niger, Kweri Forest, and Kachia Forest in Kaduna.
