Explaining his decision, Isiyaka M. Dabo said he quit the PDP because it “favours only the wealthy,” adding that he was inspired by the leadership of Senator Abdul’aziz Yari and Minister Bello Matawalle to join what he described as “the winning party.”
Similarly, Amina Duniya, who revealed she had been a member of the PDP for 25 years, urged APC leaders to uphold fairness and equity, while pledging to attract more supporters to the party.
Matawalle Welcomes Defectors
The defectors were officially received in Abuja on Thursday by the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, alongside the Zamfara APC chairman, Hon. Tukur Umar Danfulani, Senator Tijjani Yahaya, and Hon. Lawal M. Liman.
Welcoming the new members, Matawalle praised their decision as courageous and strategic, emphasizing that the APC remains the most popular and widely accepted political platform in Zamfara and across Nigeria.
“APC will continue to grow stronger and more united with the ongoing strategies and welfare initiatives being delivered to the people,” he stated.
In his remarks, the Zamfara APC chairman, Tukur Umar Danfulani, assured the defectors of full integration into the party structure, stressing that the APC stands for inclusiveness, fairness, and progress.
He dismissed rumours of internal division, noting that recent by-election victories and the influx of key political figures show that “the APC is firmly on course to reclaim Zamfara State in 2027.”
