Mbappé’s Late Winner Stuns Barcelona As Mourinho Demands More From Real Madrid

José Mourinho has warned Real Madrid against becoming complacent following their 2-1 victory over Barcelona at the Camp Nou on Sunday, October 25, insisting that winning the La Liga title remains the club’s primary objective.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Kylian Mbappé scored twice, including a late winner, to secure the victory for Real Madrid, end Barcelona’s perfect start to the league season and move his side to within three points of their rivals at the top of the table.

Speaking after the match, Mourinho urged the players to remain focused and avoid allowing the significance of the El Clásico triumph to distract them from the broader challenge of competing for the league title.

“In my view, Real Madrid do not play to win at the Camp Nou… Real Madrid play to win La Liga. This must be the mentality. We need to continue like this and don’t go over the moon after this win,” he said.

The Portuguese manager praised the team’s composure, work ethic and collective performance, arguing that the result reflected their quality rather than mere good fortune.

“We could win with luck, but we won with calmness and with all merit. It’s a very strong group. Everyone works very hard. Everyone was ready to win,” Mourinho added.

He also highlighted the balance within Real Madrid’s midfield, noting that the combination of different qualities had strengthened the team’s ability to perform in both attacking and defensive situations.

The match saw Mbappé open the scoring in the 41st minute after Barcelona failed to clear the ball effectively. The hosts responded in the 61st minute when Raphinha found the net to restore parity.

However, Real Madrid secured all three points in the 87th minute when Mbappé completed his brace, finishing a move created by substitute Eduardo Camavinga.

The victory represented an important result for Real Madrid in the title race, but Mourinho stressed that one impressive performance would not be enough to guarantee success over the course of the season.

He urged his players to maintain the same discipline, intensity and commitment in their upcoming fixtures, warning that the team’s ambitions would depend on consistency rather than a single victory over their biggest rivals.
