With a track record of success in both the private and organized public sectors, this individual is emerging as a frontrunner in the upcoming Edo election.
Clem Agba’s journey in public service began with an appointment as the Commissioner for the Ministry of Environment and Public Utilities in Edo State on January 23, 2009, by Senator Adams Oshiomhole, the then Governor of Edo State. Commendable service led to subsequent roles, including Commissioner of Lands, Survey & Housing, showcasing a commitment to the state’s development. Recognizing his dedication, he was appointed as the Minister of State, Budget, and National Planning in August 2019.
Born on March 28, 1964, in Edo State, his early education took place at St Vincent Primary School, Auchi, and St. John’s Grammar School, Fugar. Academic pursuits led to a B.Sc in Economics from Ambrose Alli University and two Master’s Degrees in Business Administration from the University of Benin and Arizona State University, USA.
The former Minister of State, Budget and planning roots lie in the family of the Royal Highness, Pius Kadiri Ikanade Agba, the Oliola of Uzanu in Etsako East Local Government Area. Happily married to Catherine Agba, their union is blessed with four children. Catherine, with her roots in the prestigious Gaius-Obaseki’s family of Benin-City, is a prominent figure as the head of Oak Exclusive Designs Limited.
Clem’s career spans roles in organizations like Pegasus Industries and Super Engineering before joining Chevron Nigeria Limited in 1990. In Edo State, he served as Commissioner for Environment and Public Utilities, demonstrating exceptional leadership skills. His voluntary resignation in 2012 to return to Chevron Oil marked a transition to the role of Manager, Community Procurement Operations.
His commitment to excellence has earned him accolades, including the National Award of Excellence in Leadership and the Save the Ozone Award of Excellence in Environmental Management. Recognized as a Professional Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration and Fellow of the Nigerian Environmental Society, he also serves as a Diversity Ambassador for Chevron Corporation.
With a deep understanding of challenges faced by small and medium businesses, education, insecurity, shrinking economy, and infrastructure deficit, he envisions a transformative future for Edo State. His unique background, rooted in traditional values, raised in diverse regions of Edo, and married to a brilliant woman, positions him as a unifying force capable of leading Edo State to a new era.
