The military operations took place early on a Monday morning in the villages of Galeri and Kwondo, situated within Ardo-Kola and Bali Local Government Areas. Captain Olubodunde emphasized the swift and coordinated efforts of the 6th Brigade troops, resulting in the successful arrest of two key suspects: Ali Ibrahim, alias Yellow, and Wetti Alhaji Ibrahim. During the apprehension, authorities seized significant items, including an AK-47 rifle and 33 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

The suspects reportedly have ties to a notorious terrorist leader known as Kadogo Fun, active in the Bangalala and Kampani Zurak areas of Plateau State. They are also allegedly involved in mercenary activities for other terrorist organizations operating in Plateau, Adamawa, and Taraba States.

The Brigade’s operations were spurred by ongoing attacks and abductions in Southern Taraba State, attributed to terrorist groups posing as military personnel. Weeks of covert intelligence-led efforts culminated in the capture of an additional eight suspects: Emmanuel Michael (aka Assay), Gabriel Samuel (aka Badoo), Fidelis Lumu Utuna, Edward Ochan, John Orhenbaga, Desmond Agbo, Thomas Ikyar, and Shafiu Shaibu (aka Odogwu).

Following initial investigations, it was revealed that the gang leader had connections with Terwase Akwaza, also known as Gana’s Gang. Among the items recovered during searches at the suspects’ residences were 10 military camouflage uniforms, ₦60,000, and 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

The suspects are currently in custody and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further interrogation and potential prosecution. The successful operation underscores the effectiveness of collaborative efforts between the Brigade and the local community in combating criminal activities.

The Brigade urged residents of Taraba State to remain vigilant and cooperate with security forces to uphold peace and security. They encouraged all citizens to report any suspicious activities, emphasizing the collective responsibility in ensuring a safer environment for all residents of Taraba State.
