Expressing his disapproval, Tunji-Ojo stated that it is absurd for a woman to have to travel all the way to Abuja merely to effect a change of name in her passport, emphasizing that such practices are not observed anywhere else in the world. He raised concerns about the seeming disparity between immigration officers in Abuja and those in the states.

The minister highlighted upcoming passport reforms, scheduled to take effect in March, introducing contactless biometrics enrolment to facilitate online transactions. He reassured Nigerians that, with the new reforms, passport-related processes could be completed from the comfort of their homes, eliminating the need for unnecessary travel.

Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of ensuring secure borders for the country while expressing his commitment to positive disruptions in the public service. He urged Nigerians to maintain faith in the Tinubu administration, asserting his dedication to giving his all for the betterment of Nigeria.

The minister directed heads of various agencies to streamline the passport acquisition process, aiming to eliminate lengthy queues. He underscored the significance of leveraging technological advancements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of procedures within immigration and correctional services.
