The Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, has reiterated the crucial role of the police in facilitating a conducive environment for business operations in Nigeria. He emphasized the necessity of a secure and stable society where businesses can thrive without concerns of crime, corruption, or undue interference.

According to a statement released on Wednesday by the Deputy Director of Press at the Ministry of Police Affairs, Bolaji Kazeem, Gaidam made these remarks during a meeting with the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), led by Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, the Special Adviser to the President on PEBEC and Investment. The meeting took place at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.

The minister emphasized that the primary responsibility of the police is to uphold law and order, safeguard lives and property, and enforce the rule of law. He highlighted that a secure business environment is essential for smooth business operations and to instill confidence in investors.

Gaidam expressed optimism and enthusiasm about the collaboration with PEBEC, particularly regarding the Ease of Doing Business Regulatory Reform Accelerator initiative. He described this initiative as a significant step towards enhancing productivity and competitiveness across various sectors of the Nigerian economy.

Gaidam stressed that the initiative demonstrates their commitment to fostering business growth and development in Nigeria. He explained that by identifying and addressing key barriers to doing business, they aim to establish a more efficient, transparent, and competitive business environment that benefits both local and foreign investors.
