According to a police source, Gbadebo was apprehended while negotiating a price of N700,000 for her child with a 38-year-old man named Sunday None. The arrest followed a resident’s report to the Sagamu Police Division, who witnessed the transaction.
Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola reported that Gbadebo has denied the allegations, whereas None has confessed to the crime.
Odutola explained, “A resident saw the negotiation between the suspects and reported it to our station. Our detectives quickly intervened, leading to the arrest of both individuals. The man has admitted to the crime.”
The case is set to be forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department once preliminary investigations are complete.
In a related incident earlier this year, PUNCH Metro covered the arrest of 38-year-old Chinyere Chukwu in Anambra State for attempting to sell her two sons, aged nine and seven. Chukwu allegedly conspired with her 17-year-old daughter to sell the children to Mrs. Ify Obinabo, the Anambra State Women and Social Welfare Commissioner, who had posed as a buyer after receiving a tip-off.
