According to MOSOP, these actions go against the desires of the Ogoni people to participate in decisions regarding oil exploration in their region.

Fegalo Nsuke, the president of MOSOP, expressed these sentiments in a statement released on Thursday in Port Harcourt. He emphasized that the chiefs advocating for Geoplex Drillteq Limited as the chosen oil company lack the genuine support of the Ogoni people, making their endorsement likely to fail.

Nsuke criticized the scheduled meeting between these chiefs and representatives of Geoplex Drillteq Limited, slated for Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Birabi Memorial Grammar School in Bori, Ogoni. He labeled this meeting as futile, stressing that the Ogoni community does not endorse the company’s involvement in oil production in the region.
