Mr Macaroni Speaks Out About Harrowing Police ExperienceNigerian comedian and Nollywood actor, Debo Adebayo, popularly known as Mr. Macaroni, has shared a disturbing experience from his arrest in February 2021, revealing that a police officer had threatened to kill him and others in custody.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The revelation comes in response to the recent suspension of Wale Ajetunmobi, Senior Special Assistant on Print Media to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Ajetunmobi had controversially claimed in a now-deleted post that arsonists who set fire to Television Continental (TVC) during the #EndSARS protests had been “hunted down and executed.” His comments sparked widespread outrage and calls for an investigation.

In a post on his X handle, Mr. Macaroni expressed frustration over the lack of accountability for threats made against him during his own police detention, while also criticizing the authorities for not taking action against voter intimidation leading up to the 2023 elections. He emphasized that no investigation was ever launched into the threat he faced, nor was there any action taken against those who openly intimidated voters in the run-up to the election.

He recalled the chilling words of the officer who threatened to kill him: “Olorun yo iya e pe o Loruko. A ba ti fi Emi yin sofo danu… E fe ma da Ijoba lamu abi.. o je fun ara e ni brain,” which he translated as: “God save your mama that you have a name. We would have killed all of you here… You want to worry the government? You better use your brain.”

Macaroni further pointed out the inconsistency in how authorities handle such matters, saying, “Why would there be an investigation? Why investigate intimidation tactics that work in your favor?” He also referenced incidents involving other government aides who had engaged in bigotry and hate speech, which were left unchecked.

He criticized the political climate, accusing politicians of using their supporters to sow division and hate across the country. “Bigotry has become the order of the day,” he said, calling for a change in the way the government handles issues of oppression and hate.

Macaroni concluded with a sarcastic remark about the likelihood of any meaningful investigation into Ajetunmobi’s statement, recalling how previous inquiries, including one set up by the Lagos State Government, had ended in vain. “We all know how that ended… don’t we?” he said.
