Muslim Forum Challenges Rev Dachomo: ‘Prove It Or Apologise!’ On Church-To-Mosque Claim
The Mangu Concerned Muslim Consultative Forum (MCMCF) in Plateau State has rejected claims by Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo that a church in Mangu Local Government Area was attacked and converted into a mosque.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Describing the allegation as baseless and provocative, the Forum urged Rev Dachomo to present evidence publicly or immediately retract his statement.
Reverend Dachomo, Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), reportedly made the claim in an interview with Channels Television on December 1, 2025, which was later circulated on various digital platforms.
Responding in a joint statement from Jos, MCMCF Chairman Sheikh Suleiman Haruna and Secretary M.A. Lawal challenged the cleric to provide the church’s name, location, and the date of the alleged conversion.
“The MCMCF rejects this dangerous narrative in its entirety and demands immediate proof or public retraction. Until evidence is provided, Rev Dachomo’s claim remains nothing more than malicious disinformation,” the statement read.
The Forum accused the cleric of attempting to inflame religious tensions and undermine peace efforts in the crisis-affected area.
“The claim appears designed to portray Muslims as aggressors, incite hatred, and derail ongoing peace initiatives,” the Forum said.
Contrary to the allegation, MCMCF emphasized that Muslims acted responsibly during the crisis, even safeguarding Christian properties in Muslim-dominated areas, including a COCIN church in Sabon Kasuwa that remained intact. Meanwhile, mosques destroyed in the conflict, including those in Mangu Daawo, were reportedly left abandoned or misused.
The Forum warned it would no longer tolerate defamatory statements against the Muslim community in Mangu LGA.
“Facts must precede fear, and peace must prevail over provocation. Failure to provide verifiable evidence on the same platform where the claim was made will confirm its baselessness,” the statement concluded, demanding a public apology and retraction from Rev Dachomo if evidence cannot be produced.
