NAF Set To Welcome New Combat Helicopters In Tuesday Induction Ceremony

The King Air aircraft is employed for specialized missions such as aerial surveys, air ambulance services, flight inspections, and surveillance.
In November 2023, the Nigerian Air Force officially acknowledged the receipt of the initial two T-129 ATAK helicopters from Turkish Aerospace Industries, with the remaining four anticipated to be delivered by Q2 2024. Additionally, one of the two Beechcraft King Air 360I aircraft was handed over to the service in November 2023.
In an official statement released on Monday, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information, announced the induction ceremony, which is set to take place in Benue State.
The statement highlighted that the President of Nigeria would be the special guest of honor at the event. Air Vice Marshal Gabkwet stated, “NAF is set to induct its newly acquired T-129 ATAK helicopters and King Air 360i aircraft on February 6, 2024, at the NAF Base, Makurdi, Benue State.”
The induction ceremony is scheduled to be presided over by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, representing President Bola Tinubu, the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The statement emphasized the significance of the event as a substantial enhancement to Nigeria’s national defense capability, particularly in addressing the various security challenges facing the country in collaboration with sister services and other security agencies.
