The Kaduna State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended 92 individuals and confiscated 217.02kg of prohibited substances since the commencement of 2024, as revealed by Mr. Samaila Danmalam, the state commander of NDLEA, during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Kaduna…….CONTINUE READING

The arrested suspects consist of 88 males and four females. The seized substances encompass various illicit drugs such as Indian hemp, cocaine, heroin, tramadol, and methamphetamine. NDLEA operatives conducted raids on 19 locations associated with illicit drug activities in the state.
During this period, the command achieved the conviction of 24 suspects, while 25 individuals were charged to court. In efforts to reduce drug demand, counseling was provided to 29 drug users, and successful rehabilitation was accomplished for seven drug addicts.
Furthermore, the NDLEA conducted enlightenment campaigns across diverse locations, reaching out to 6,956 participants. The campaigns aimed to discourage the public from engaging in illicit drug use and trafficking.
Emphasizing the need for collective responsibility in combating drug abuse and trafficking, the commander urged the public to share relevant and timely information with the command. He stressed that the fight against drug-related issues requires the support and cooperation of all Nigerians. (NAN)
