Newly Promoted Assistant Superintendents Of Police Urged To Embrace Responsibilities And Human Rights Protection
Jonathan Towuru, the Assistant Inspector General of Police for zone six in Calabar, has delivered a charge to 39 recently promoted Assistant Superintendents of Police, emphasizing the higher responsibilities they now hold within the force.

During the decoration ceremony of the newly promoted officers, Towuru’s remarks were delivered by DCP Abayomi Shogunle from the Department of Finance. The officers, who were all elevated from the rank of Inspector to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), were decorated in the presence of their families.
Towuru conveyed the message from the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, stating, “From now on, you are on the Supervisory cadre as senior police officers. Your responsibilities will involve overseeing both the rank and file, as well as the Inspectors.”
In addition to emphasizing human rights protection, Towuru advised the officers to enhance their care for their families by increasing their monthly food allowances, considering the improved compensation that accompanies their promotions.
He encouraged them to align with the mission statement of the Inspector General of Police.
During the event, Towuru also took the opportunity to encourage all police personnel to engage in regular physical exercises, highlighting the importance of maintaining good health to effectively carry out their assigned duties.
ASP Lucy Ejiba expressed gratitude on behalf of her colleagues for the promotion. She acknowledged that the promotion would serve as motivation to redouble their efforts in their roles.
