This information was shared by Ms. Aisha Wakaso, the Special Adviser to Governor Muhammad Umar Bago on Print Media, during a press briefing in Minna, the state capital.
Wakaso explained that the state government made this payment to ensure that the withheld WAEC results of students from Niger State were released. She confirmed that these results have now been released for the affected students.
Furthermore, the Governor’s aide revealed that the government has received samples of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses, which will be procured to alleviate transportation challenges faced by the state’s residents. She noted that the order for 200 vehicles placed by the state would soon be delivered.
It’s worth recalling that the state government had previously entered into agreements with four different contracting firms to purchase a minimum of 200 CNG buses at a cost of N7 billion.
The goal was to mitigate the difficulties arising from the removal of fuel subsidies and provide free transportation for pupils and students in the state.
Governor Bago had announced during the agreement signing in September 2023 that the delivery of the buses was expected to be completed in 12 weeks.
