Residing in Bengaluru since 2014 and working as a DJ, Moses was arrested by a team led by Wayanad Cyber Police Station Inspector Shaju Joseph on Christmas Eve.
The fraud unfolded when Moses exploited personal details provided by the victim on a private website last October while searching for a medical coding job. Posing as a visa agent, Moses contacted the woman through emails and WhatsApp, gaining her trust by displaying her details on an immigration site and presenting a flight ticket purportedly booked for her to Canada.
Trusting his assurances, the victim transferred Rs 17 lakhs to Moses’s account. However, as he persistently demanded more money, the woman grew suspicious, eventually leading her to file a complaint at the Wayanad Cyber Police Station.
So far, the police have recovered Rs 6 lakhs from the accused, employing IP address tracking and online purchase tracing to locate Moses.
The DJ artist, known for engaging in various online frauds over the years, conducted minimal DJ events, dedicating the majority of his time to fraudulent activities. Authorities have seized multiple devices from his possession as part of their ongoing investigation.
