Iru Efi, the owner of the media platform, took to Twitter (@IruefiNG) to share the unsettling news on Saturday, August 12, 2023. He disclosed that his brother, Chike Victor Ibezim, was taken into custody by DSS operatives two days prior, following a petition filed by Babatunde Fashola alleging “defamation” and “cyber-stalking” against his media company, @ReporteraNews.

The catalyst for this arrest was reportedly a post circulated last week on the media platform, claiming that Fashola was involved in drafting a favorable judgment for judges of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT).

In response to the allegations made against him, Babatunde Fashola, a former Minister of Works and Housing, lodged a formal complaint with the Inspector-General of Police. He asserted that the social media posts in question were defamatory in nature, prompting the investigation and subsequent arrest by the DSS.
