The Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, reiterated the Nigeria Immigration Service’s dedication to robust border management during an evaluation tour of border regions in Katsina and Jigawa states. According to a statement by NIS spokesperson Kenneth Udo on Saturday, Nandap inspected critical facilities at Fago Patrol Base, Daura Forward Operational Base, Kongolam Border Control Post, and Magatari Control Post, focusing on ongoing e-border initiatives.
Addressing stakeholders including traditional leaders, youth leaders, transport unions, and market women in border communities, Nandap urged cooperation in securing Nigeria’s borders, particularly vast unguarded areas prone to risks. The statement highlighted her concerns over transborder crimes like migrant smuggling and human trafficking, urging communities to share information on irregular migrant activities.
In discussions with other security agencies, Nandap stressed the necessity for sustained collaboration to ensure effective border governance. “A secure border ensures a secure nation,” she emphasized, highlighting the critical role of collective efforts in national security maintenance.
