No Authority To Expel Me – Fayose Takes A Stand Against PDP ChairmanFormer Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has responded to calls for his expulsion from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the party’s caretaker committee chairman, Dare Adeleke. This announcement was made during a submission to the Chief Tom Ikimi-led PDP disciplinary committee.

The party accused Fayose of anti-party activities, particularly for publicly endorsing Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s bid for re-election. Despite being a PDP member, Fayose has openly supported Oyebanji, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which has further strained relations within the party.

At the inauguration of the Dehead/Faglo Road and electrification project in Ado Ekiti, Fayose reiterated his support for Oyebanji, prompting the party’s actions against him. In response, Fayose dismissed the expulsion recommendation, stating that Adeleke lacks the authority to make such claims. His aide, Lere Olayinka, characterized Adeleke’s actions as inconsequential.

Fayose emphasized, “We will see who truly owns the politics of Ekiti. Adeleke’s authority is being challenged in court; he has no power to recommend my expulsion.” He also noted the absurdity of Adeleke’s claims, insisting that he is free to support whomever he chooses.

Adeleke, addressing the media, maintained that Fayose’s endorsements of the opposition undermine the party’s values and unity, calling for his expulsion due to what he described as misleading actions that distort the PDP’s image. He expressed skepticism about Fayose’s motivations, suggesting that his support for Oyebanji is self-serving.

Adeleke criticized the current administration’s performance, citing failures in infrastructure, health, and education, and called for a united effort to strengthen the PDP in Ekiti. He urged Fayose to officially defect if he wishes to align himself with the opposing party, rather than misleading others for personal gain.
