The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited reiterated its plea for motorists to avoid engaging in panic buying of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol. This appeal was conveyed through a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye.
According to NNPC, the supply and distribution of petrol nationwide have shown consistent improvement, resulting in reduced queues at filling stations across various states, including Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The corporation disclosed that it currently holds a stockpile of over 1.5 billion litres of PMS, ensuring more than 30 days’ worth of sufficiency. The statement emphasized the ongoing enhancement of supply and distribution, indicating a gradual normalization of the situation in other states as well.
NNPC underscored its collaboration with relevant downstream agencies such as the Nigerian Midstream & Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), labor unions within the sector, and security agencies to tackle issues like hoarding and other malpractices.
