In an episode of the “King of Talks” podcast hosted by comedian Teju Babyface, the 46-year-old actor recounted his experiences of relocating from Nigeria to the US with the promise of movie opportunities that ultimately fell through.

With no viable prospects and faced with the reality of having to pay rent in the US, he found himself in a tight spot.
He expressed, “I got to America on a promise that I had some gigs waiting for me. So I thought I was going to have a soft landing there. I packed up everything from Nigeria, bought a one-way ticket, and came to America.” However, the promised deals did not materialize, leaving him in a state of uncertainty.
Benjamin elaborated that he had no choice but to make the most of his situation. He revealed that he received a car as a gift from a church member and decided to delve into the taxi business as an Uber and Lyft driver to make ends meet.
Reflecting on his journey, Benjamin shared the challenges he faced, including financial difficulties and feelings of desperation.
He explained, “My life pattern then was so disorganized in the sense that I didn’t have a proper saving culture. With all the money I was making in Nigeria, my life was a mess.”
However, he gradually managed to find his footing and regain stability. He highlighted the spiritual aspect of his journey, explaining how he turned to his faith during tough times. Through his struggles, he found a renewed sense of purpose and resilience.
Benjamin’s candid story sheds light on the challenges and resilience that individuals may encounter when navigating unexpected twists in life, ultimately leading to growth and transformation.
