Tinubu’s Appointments Are Strategic, Not Tribal – Bwala Defends Presidency....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Media and Policy Communication, has defended the President’s appointment choices, asserting that they are made based on strategic national interests rather than ethnic bias.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Bwala responded to claims by Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume of Borno South, who accused President Tinubu of favoring the Yoruba ethnic group in his political appointments.

Bwala dismissed the allegations, stating that the President’s decisions are guided by national priorities and not tribal considerations.

He cited national security as an example, pointing out: “Where is insecurity most severe in Nigeria? The North. Now, look at the appointments—the Chief of Defence Staff, the Minister of Defence, and the Minister of State for Defence—all are from the North. These choices are strategic. If someone from a different region were appointed to handle Northern security challenges, it could be misinterpreted.”

On the economic front, Bwala explained that appointments from the South were tied to the region’s status as Nigeria’s economic powerhouse.

“Southern Nigeria is home to the country’s major commercial hubs. It makes strategic sense to appoint individuals who understand the terrain and can drive economic growth,” he noted.

Bwala also emphasized that the current appointments represent only a fraction of what is to come. He revealed that President Tinubu has over 7,000 appointments to make, assuring that Nigerians from all regions will be represented in due course.

“We’re just at the beginning. Even the list of ambassadors hasn’t been released yet. There are many more appointments ahead, and they will reflect Nigeria’s diversity,” Bwala concluded.
