This crackdown comes in response to reports of an alarming increase in the sale of adulterated Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) at various filling stations within the state.

Speaking on the matter, Commandant Okafor emphasized the grave dangers posed by the sale and consumption of adulterated fuel to unsuspecting members of the public. He highlighted the potential risks of engine damage and other mechanical failures resulting from the use of contaminated fuel, which could endanger lives and property.

The NSCDC’s proactive measures include rigorous surveillance and monitoring of filling stations suspected of engaging in the illegal trade of adulterated fuel. Through collaborative efforts with regulatory agencies such as the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), the NSCDC has conducted thorough laboratory tests to confirm the authenticity of fuel samples collected from suspect stations.

Recent investigations have uncovered several instances of contaminated fuel being sold to consumers, prompting swift action from the NSCDC. Offenders caught in the act of distributing adulterated fuel will face severe penalties, including prosecution and legal consequences, as a deterrent to others involved in similar unlawful activities.
