The Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Squad of the Ogun State Police Command has recovered a stolen, unregistered Lexus ES350 saloon car in Ondo State, following months of intelligence-led investigations.

The vehicle, a red Lexus ES350 without a registration number, was reportedly stolen at gunpoint by suspected armed robbers in the Ogijo area of Ogun State on September 15, 2026, at about 2:00 a.m.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the recovery in a statement issued on Friday.

Babaseyi explained that immediately after receiving the report of the robbery, the Officer-in-Charge of the SWAT Squad, SP Obeh Eneye, directed operatives to commence an investigation to track down those responsible and recover the vehicle.

He disclosed that sustained investigative efforts eventually led the police to the stolen Lexus in Ondo State, where SWAT operatives successfully recovered it and transported it to the Ogun State Police Command.

The police spokesman added that investigations were still ongoing to identify and arrest other suspects connected to the robbery, as well as recover any additional property stolen during the incident.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the SWAT operatives for their commitment, diligence and professionalism in securing the recovery.

Ojajuni reaffirmed the command’s determination to strengthen intelligence-driven policing, recover stolen property and ensure that individuals involved in criminal activities are brought to justice.

The police commissioner also advised vehicle owners to ensure their cars are properly registered and display valid registration numbers, noting that compliance would make it easier for security agencies to identify vehicles, verify ownership and trace stolen property.

He further encouraged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities, stressing that credible information from residents remains important in the fight against crime.
