According to Ogunleye, the former Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate sought advice from former Heads of State, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar, before officially resigning from the PDP.
Speaking with News Central on Tuesday, Ogunleye revealed that Jandor also explored the possibility of joining the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and held discussions with the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo.
However, after a private meeting with President Bola Tinubu, Jandor ultimately decided to join the APC.
“Jandor met with Mr. President on March 10, 2025. Prior to that, he had engaged in consultations with key figures, including former President Ibrahim Babangida, former Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar, and the SDP’s 2023 presidential candidate. He also met with several other national leaders as part of his deliberations,” Ogunleye stated.
He emphasized that Jandor’s meeting with President Tinubu was aimed at exchanging ideas and exploring areas of collaboration.
“The meeting with the President was private, but it was marked by mutual respect and understanding. President Tinubu acknowledged Jandor’s contributions to politics and commended his courage and dedication to national development,” he added.
Ogunleye noted that the outcome of the discussion played a significant role in Jandor’s final decision to officially defect to the APC, alongside his political associates.
