Speaking at a press conference in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, PDP’s acting state chairman, Robinson Ewor, accused the former governor of engaging in repeated anti-party activities. He warned that Wike’s conduct could lead to his suspension or outright expulsion, depending on the gravity of his actions.

“The party has established mechanisms to address such infractions. The NEC, NWC, and state executive committees have the authority to act against anyone undermining the party. Once we fully reclaim control of the PDP in Rivers State, Nyesom Wike will be held accountable for his anti-party activities, which could result in disciplinary measures, including suspension or expulsion,” Ewor stated.

The PDP further accused Wike of betraying the party, citing his role as a minister in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s APC-led government as evidence of divided loyalty.

“Wike currently serves in Tinubu’s administration. You cannot serve two masters. His actions have weakened the PDP and tarnished its reputation. The party will act accordingly at the right time,” Ewor added.

Additionally, the party rejected the Supreme Court ruling that recognized Martins Amaewhule and 26 other lawmakers as PDP members, arguing that they had already defected to the APC. Ewor pointed to an affidavit filed in the Abuja High Court, alongside their public declaration on the House of Assembly floor, as proof of their defection.

“The Supreme Court may have erred in its judgment. Amaewhule and the 26 others ceased to be PDP members long before the ruling. There is concrete evidence, including their sworn affidavit, confirming their move to the APC,” he asserted.

Despite the political turmoil, the PDP reaffirmed its support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his commitment to implementing the court’s ruling for the progress of Rivers State.

Ewor urged the 27 lawmakers to reconsider their stance and align with the ruling in the best interest of the state.
