Okocha Clears Air On Relationship With Fubara....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Tony Okocha, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has emphasized that Governor Siminalayi Fubara is not his enemy. He clarified that his role as a key opposition figure necessitates speaking out to caution the Governor against making decisions that could negatively impact the state’s future.
During a quiz and essay competition he sponsored for secondary and tertiary students in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, Okocha explained that his criticisms are not driven by animosity towards Fubara. Instead, they stem from a genuine desire to see the state thrive.
Okocha stated, “People call us troublemakers because we are talking. If something is not good, it’s not good. People misconstrue us to be enemies of the state. Some say we hate the governor. I do not hate the governor. We are his best friends. The man who tells you when you are wrong that, ‘Sir, why not do it this way instead of that way, considering the implications,’ is your friend.”
He contrasted this with those who, out of self-interest, fail to offer constructive criticism, thereby allowing leaders to make errors that could lead to negative outcomes. According to Okocha, true friends are those who provide honest feedback and help guide leaders away from potential pitfalls.
