Reflecting on her uncle’s incredible life, Mercy stated, “In a harrowing encounter with bandits in 2023, when our village (Warkan) in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State was attacked by bandits, he would have been killed. It was told that a debate ensued amongst them, one said let’s kill the old man and stop wasting time while another said let’s leave him as he would soon die from the look of things. Despite the chaos, he was spared, as if fate had other plans.”

At the age of 103, Bitrus Akut held the distinction of being the oldest resident in the village, leaving behind a legacy of resilience and love. His life was celebrated on February 10, 2024, during his funeral, where family and friends gathered to pay their respects. Mercy concluded her post, saying, “His memory lives on through his 12 children, 45 grandchildren, and many more great-grandchildren. Rest in peace, baba.
