The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has formally distanced himself from a man featured in a viral video claiming to be his son. According to a statement released by Moses Olafare, the spokesperson for the monarch, the individual in the video has been accused of impersonation.

The palace has reported the matter to appropriate security agencies for necessary action. Olafare emphasized that Oba Ogunwusi, as a responsible father and custodian of tradition, acknowledges all his children and is committed to their welfare.

The spokesperson clarified that the individual claiming to be a prince is not recognized by the palace or the people of Ile-Ife. He asserted that the man in the video “is not a descendant of Ooni Ogunwusi” and has no connection to the royal family.

The palace condemned the impersonation, calling it sacrilegious and criminal. They stressed the importance of a thorough investigation by law enforcement agencies to ensure justice is served.

Furthermore, the palace urged the impersonator to stop deceptive practices and emphasized their dedication to safeguarding Yoruba cultural heritage. They also called on individuals with information about the impersonator to cooperate with authorities.
