The All Progressives Congress (APC)’s presidential and vice-presidential candidates, Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima, have been cleared of disqualification charges by the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court panel stated that the PDP’s claim regarding Shettima’s nomination as Tinubu’s running mate, in violation of sections 29(1), 33, 35, and 84(1)(2) of the Electoral Act, 2022, was invalid. The opposition party contended that Shettima’s simultaneous candidacy for the position of vice president and the Borno central senatorial seat was against the law. However, the Supreme Court dismissed this argument.
