The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has convened an emergency meeting today (Wednesday) in Abuja to address the escalating leadership crisis, particularly the dispute over the National Secretary position.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The meeting, set to begin at 11 a.m. at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, will bring together key party stakeholders to discuss recent developments and review updates from the committee led by former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki.

A reliable PDP insider, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Punch that the BoT opted to hold the meeting at Transcorp Hilton instead of the PDP National Secretariat due to security concerns.

The gathering comes amid mounting tensions between factions loyal to Samuel Anyanwu and those backing Sunday Ude-Okoye, both of whom are laying claim to the National Secretary position.

According to the source, discussions will also cover recent court rulings, including the Court of Appeal’s decision allowing Anyanwu to retain his position pending a Supreme Court ruling.

“The BoT will meet tomorrow (today) at 11 a.m. at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, to discuss the National Secretary crisis. The meeting will likely review the report from Turaki’s committee and assess the latest developments, including the stance of the PDP Governors,” the source stated.

“Although the BoT can meet anywhere, their meetings are usually held at the PDP National Headquarters, Wadata Plaza. However, due to last week’s security breach, we have moved the venue to ensure the safety of our members.”

Anyanwu, while confirming that the BoT would meet, noted that he was not invited to the session.

“Yes, the BoT is meeting, but I believe they did not invite me or the National Chairman, Umar Damagum,” he said.

Similarly, Ude-Okoye confirmed that the BoT had instructed both him and Anyanwu to stay away from the meeting in their capacity as National Secretaries.

“The BoT is meeting. During their last session, they ruled that neither of us should attend their meetings until the leadership dispute is fully resolved. I will respect that directive,” Ude-Okoye stated.
