Responding to suggestions that the PDP has become a shadow of its former self, the 79-year-old elder statesman firmly rejected the notion:
“No way! Those are dreamers. I’m telling you, they are first-class dreamers.”

He maintained that the PDP remains a powerful political force in Nigeria, calling it the “Iroko” of Nigerian politics.

“In terms of political structure, ownership, and unity, what we have in the PDP, others do not. The PDP is the Iroko of Nigerian politics — its roots are deep and still very much alive,” he asserted.

Addressing the police blockade at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja earlier that day, George expressed outrage and disbelief. According to him, he was shocked to be denied access to the party headquarters.

“It felt like trying to return to your own home only to find it barricaded by security agents. I was stunned and asked myself, ‘What in the world is going on?’” he recalled.

He condemned the incident as a disgrace and urged security agencies to uphold constitutional principles and respect democratic institutions.

Despite the unexpected turn of events, George noted that the experience served as a valuable lesson for the party.

“They’ve since apologized. We saw through the political games. But we’ve learned from it,” he said.

He emphasized that rather than weakening the PDP, the incident had strengthened internal unity.
