PDP Wages War On ‘Disloyal’ Members, Vows No Tickets For ADC Loyalists
Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have reportedly launched efforts to prevent an exodus of members to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to sources who spoke with The Punch, the PDP leadership is actively reaching out to members nationwide, urging them not to align with the emerging opposition coalition led by the ADC.
An insider revealed that any elected official found fraternizing with the coalition risks being denied a party ticket, unless they publicly reaffirm their loyalty to the PDP and reject the alliance.
The PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC), Board of Trustees (BoT), Governors’ Forum, and other internal bodies are said to be alarmed by the growing momentum behind the coalition.
A senior party figure, speaking anonymously, said:
“Party leaders are disappointed by the disregard some members are showing. How can someone claim PDP membership while openly supporting the ADC? That’s unacceptable.
We’ve reached out through our communication channels to warn members against joining the coalition. At the right time, disciplinary action will be taken against those who undermine the party.”
He added that PDP leaders across all levels have been tasked with engaging grassroots members to reinforce the party’s unity and vision.
“We will also support those who clearly no longer believe in the PDP to exit and join the coalition. Sabotage will not be tolerated. Those of us who remain are focused on rebuilding the party.”
Another high-ranking source confirmed that efforts are ongoing to maintain internal cohesion:
“This is not a game. PDP members who recently distanced themselves from the ADC didn’t do so randomly—we contacted them. They know the PDP remains a strong political platform and understand the risks of associating with the ADC while holding PDP membership.
For officeholders, supporting another party while expecting to keep your PDP ticket is unrealistic. We won’t allow that.”
PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, also condemned any form of dual allegiance, calling it hypocrisy:
“It is dishonourable for anyone to remain in the PDP while collaborating with another political group. If you no longer believe in our values, resign—just as David Mark did. That’s what integrity demands.
We are now seriously considering disciplinary measures against erring members. The party cannot tolerate double standards.”
Abdullahi stressed that the PDP would not hesitate to sanction individuals whose loyalty is in question, reaffirming the party’s commitment to discipline, loyalty, and ideological consistency.
