In a related development, the Oyo State Government, led by Governor Seyi Makinde, invited the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to a roundtable discussion to address the issue of salary deductions.

The state witnessed a protest at the secretariat in the Agodi area of Ibadan on Monday, where workers demanded increased allowances and voiced other grievances.

The workers even blockaded the secretariat gate to emphasize their concerns and threatened further protests.

However, the Oyo State Government, through the Commissioner of Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, clarified that the owed salary deductions amounted to three months and not six months, contrary to some reports.

The government urged the workers to refrain from further protests, highlighting that salary deductions were a common issue across states in the country. The commissioner also acknowledged the NLC’s support for the administration in the past and urged them to consider the government’s commitment to workers’ welfare.
