According to TheCable, this development comes after the Kano State High Court granted an order on Monday, restraining Aminu Ado Bayero and four others, who were recently dethroned as Emirs, from assuming their royal roles in the state.

Justice Aisha Adamu Aliyu issued the order in response to an ex parte motion filed by the state government on May 27, 2024. The court directed the dethroned Emirs to vacate their palaces immediately and prohibited them from exercising any official duties.

Furthermore, the court instructed the Commissioner of Police in Kano to take control of the palace currently occupied by Ado Bayero and ensure the former Emir’s eviction.

The Kano state House of Assembly had previously amended a 2019 law, originally utilized by then-Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to depose Muhammadu Sanusi as Emir. This legislation had restructured the emirate into Bichi, Rano, Karaye, Kano, and Gaya, leading to the dismissal of all Emirs.

While the other deposed Emirs complied with the directive to vacate their palaces, Bayero has not yet done so, contributing to escalating tensions in Kano, particularly since the recent reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi as Emir of the town
