A 24-year-old individual named Destiny Paul has been apprehended by the Edo State Police Command on charges of allegedly posing as the Kaduna State Government to carry out fraudulent activities against unsuspecting members of the public.
The disclosure was made by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, during a press briefing held on Monday in Benin City, as reported by DAILY POST.
SP Chidi Nwabuzor informed journalists that the suspect was apprehended by the anti-kidnapping and cybercrime unit of the Command. The arrest was made in response to a petition received from the Force Headquarters, prompting an investigation into the matter.
The arrest operation utilized technical intelligence and took place along the Ubiaja-Uromi road in Edo State. The petition had alleged that an individual from Edo State was posing as the Kaduna State Government, deceiving and defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.
The suspect was located within the jurisdiction of the Edo State Police Command, where he was taken into custody. During interrogation, the individual admitted to using the profile of the Kaduna State Government for fraudulent activities.
SP Chidi Nwabuzor disclosed that officers from the Force Headquarters have been notified, and they are coordinating an investigative team from Kaduna to Edo State. The suspect is expected to be handed over to this team from Abuja for further investigation and legal proceedings.
