According to a statement by Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations, the PSC Staff Monitors, deployed to the nine Senatorial districts of Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa states, reported that police officers on election duty demonstrated courage and effectively managed intermittent attempts to disrupt the elections.

The statement highlighted that the officers at many polling units were courteous, approachable, and exhibited professionalism.

Despite incidents of attacks on voting units, particularly in Kogi State, and pockets of disturbances in Brass and other riverine areas of Bayelsa State, the police managed to contain the situations.

While reports of vote-buying emerged in the three states, the statement clarified that there was no collusion with police officers on election duties in these activities.

The Police Service Commission monitored various locations, including five of the eight local governments in Imo West, where visible patrols, collaboration with the military, and police helicopter surveillance contributed to a secure election environment.

In Bayelsa, police officers arrived early at voting units, dressed appropriately, and displayed a high level of professionalism.

The PSC Monitors observed an average of two policemen in most voting units, with early signals and proactive measures taken in Kogi State, including the arrest of miscreants attacking polling units.
