Opeyemi Bamidele, Senate Leader of the 10th National Assembly, has cautioned members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State against actions that could undermine party unity.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking to journalists in Ado-Ekiti during a meeting with key stakeholders from Ekiti Central Senatorial District, he warned that aligning with opposition parties could expose the APC to internal weakening and make it easier for rivals to attract dissatisfied members.
Bamidele noted that the African Democratic Congress (ADC), though relatively new, is actively seeking to expand its membership across the country. He explained that internal grievances within any organisation can create openings for opposition groups, which are closely watching for divisions they can exploit.
He urged party members to remain loyal and committed, stressing the importance of managing internal affairs effectively to avoid crises that could destabilise the party.
On the issue of upcoming primaries, Bamidele stated that all aspirants would participate in the process, whether through consensus or direct primaries, in line with electoral guidelines. He explained that even candidates endorsed by consensus must still go through a formal process involving affirmation by party members.
He further advised aspirants not to feel discouraged if they do not emerge victorious, noting that competition naturally produces only one winner. According to him, those who lose should remain active within the party, as future opportunities may arise depending on timing and political considerations.
Bamidele also downplayed the impact of ADC’s recruitment efforts, saying the party has not made significant progress despite its outreach. He emphasized that maintaining unity within the APC remains the best way to prevent opposition parties from gaining ground.
