Under the new timetable, players will enjoy an 89-day rest period between the end of the current season and the start of the next, plus 33 additional recovery days following the 2026 World Cup final. To reduce fixture congestion, the campaign will comprise 33 weekend rounds and five midweek matchdays.
All matches on the final day will kick off simultaneously, preserving tradition. Notably, the season will wrap up one week before the 2027 UEFA Champions League final, avoiding overlap with European competition.
The Premier League has also taken steps to ease pressure over the festive period. During Christmas and New Year, every club will have at least 60 hours between matches, a measure intended to mitigate the physical demands of holiday fixtures.
In its statement, the league emphasized that the revised schedule, including the later start, reflects its commitment to managing player workload and aligning with international competitions.
