In a statement issued by presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu highlighted that Nigeria’s prosperity hinges on eradicating poverty from society, a goal that necessitates close collaboration with private sector leaders, many of whom were present during the opening ceremony.

“Can we persist in dedicating 90% of our revenue to servicing external debts? This trajectory leads to ruin. It is an unsustainable path. We must undertake the profoundly challenging changes essential for our nation to awaken from its slumber and command reverence among the world’s great nations,” the president asserted resoundingly.

Addressing the conference’s theme, “Getting it Right: Charting the Course for Nigeria’s Nation-Building,” President Tinubu underscored the imperative of making tough choices to propel the country onto a trajectory of growth, despite the initial discomfort that often accompanies meaningful reforms.

“Without the reforms we’ve initiated, our desired nation cannot materialize. These reforms entail short-term and medium-term pains, but we must take the steps necessary to guide this nation to its grand destiny.

This endeavor isn’t about you or me alone; it concerns the generations yet to come, for whom we must bequeath a thriving and prosperous nation,” he affirmed.
