The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has apprehended Hashiru Baku, believed to be the mastermind behind the murder of Brigadier General Harold Udokwere, the National Chairman of Retired Members of the Nigerian Armed Forces. Earlier arrests were made on June 24, 2024, when Ibrahim Rabiu, Nafiu Jamil, Aliyu Abdullahi, and Mohammed Nuhu were apprehended in connection with the crime.
Today, FCT Commissioner of Police Bennett Igweh announced the arrest of Baku, a fugitive who had escaped from Kuje prison. Baku was captured in Kano State while attempting to flee the country.
“We have already presented the four individuals responsible for the murder, kidnapping, and robbery of Brigadier-General Harold Udokwere,” Igweh stated. “Today, we have apprehended the mastermind behind the killing and robbery. We have also recovered the general’s stolen firearm, his wristwatch, and jewelry belonging to his wife that was taken during the incident.”
“He is the mastermind who, despite escaping from Kuje Correctional Centre during an attack, did not repent but continued his criminal activities with impunity. We apprehended him in Kano as he attempted to leave the country. Additionally, drugs were recovered from his residence,” Igweh further disclosed.
