Yevgeny Vasilyevich has been named as the primary doppelgänger for President Putin, reportedly suffering from poisoning by ‘toxic substances’. According to an enigmatic Russian Telegram channel called General SVR, Vasilyevich exhibited skin rashes initially mistaken for an allergic reaction.
Various sources, including Ukrainian military intelligence, have supported the theory that one or more Putin lookalikes are regularly used as body doubles for the 71-year-old Russian President.
Vasilyevich, described as a ‘fourth-rate carpenter’ from Belarus by a Russian political analyst, reportedly substituted for Putin in delivering a New Year’s Eve speech, as asserted by Dr. Valery Solovey, a former professor linked to Moscow’s spy and diplomat training academy.
In October 2023, Dr. Solovey claimed Putin’s demise and replacement by body doubles controlled by a former FSB spymaster, a theory refuted by the Kremlin as ‘absurd’.
Allegedly, doctors administered medication to the supposed double, contacting security council chief Nikolai Patrushev when the test results indicated exposure to a toxic substance.
General SVR, known for unverified Kremlin insights and conspiracy theories, asserted an investigation by FSB and FSO security services into the alleged assassination attempt on the body double.
Last year, General SVR also claimed Putin would transfer power for cancer surgery, a claim dismissed by the Kremlin. Similarly, Dr. Solovey, labeled a ‘foreign agent’ by Russia, made bold assertions about Putin’s health and the alleged training of the carpenter lookalike by Moscow’s secret services.
Dr. Solovey suggested that the shorter duration of Putin’s recent New Year’s address aimed to divert attention from the appearance and voice of the alleged imposter named Yevgeny Vasilyevich, hailing from Belarus and purportedly a ‘fourth-rate carpenter’.
