Remi Tinubu Calls For Death Penalty For Any Captured Kidnapper

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reiterated her strong advocacy for the imposition of capital punishment on kidnappers within the nation. This affirmation was made during a meeting with Senators representing the three senatorial districts of Lagos State at her office in the State House, Abuja, on Thursday.

Mrs. Tinubu urged the legislators to prioritize the enactment of legislation aimed at enhancing security measures to curb the prevalent issue of kidnapping. She emphasized the commitment of the Bola Tinubu administration to confront the escalating insecurity in the country and ensure a prosperous future for forthcoming generations.

In her address, she stressed the imperative nature of revisiting existing laws and introducing new ones to effectively combat the menace of kidnapping, likening the situation to being in a state of war against kidnappers.

“The Tinubu administration is determined to establish a legacy that will endure for generations to come. Achieving this goal demands significant sacrifices and unwavering courage,” Mrs. Tinubu remarked.

During the visit, Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, leader of the delegation and representative of Lagos East, commended President Tinubu’s ongoing reforms aimed at fostering economic stability and enduring prosperity in Nigeria. He assured that the Senate remains committed to formulating legislation centered on the welfare of the people, particularly in economic and security spheres, expressing optimism about Nigeria’s potential to become a haven of economic growth.

Accompanying Senator Abiru were Senator Wasiu Eshinlokun Sanni, representing Lagos Central and serving as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Marine Transport, and Senator Dr. Oluranti Adebule, representing Lagos West and serving as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Social Welfare and Poverty Alleviation.
