The prosecution, led by Deputy Director Paula Akpoguma from the Ministry of Justice, presented five witnesses whose testimonies substantiated the case against the defendants beyond reasonable doubt. The tragic incident occurred on March 5, 2020, when the defendants lured the twins into a bush, mutilated them, and swiftly transported their body parts to a native doctor in Aguleri, Anambra State.

Justice Onome Marshal-Umukoro, presiding over the case, emphasized that the evidence, including a confessional statement from the first defendant, convincingly proved their guilt. He underscored the legality of using an investigating police officer’s testimony as credible evidence in court.

Following the verdict, the prosecuting counsel, Akpoguma, expressed gratitude to the court, affirming that justice had prevailed and highlighting the effectiveness of the judicial process.
