The appointments come shortly after a minor cabinet adjustment that saw the Commissioner for Sports, Barrister Christopher Green, reassigned to the Ministry of Justice as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.
In a clarification, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Dr Honour Sirawoo, stated that Green would continue to supervise the Ministry of Sports until a substantive commissioner is appointed.
The list of new advisers includes Professor Peter Medee, former Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, and Barrister Eloka Tasie-Amadi, former Commissioner for Works. Both officials were affected by the recent Supreme Court ruling that upheld Martin Amaewhule as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The appointments were announced in a Government Special Announcement issued on Thursday in Port Harcourt and made available to members of the press.
According to the statement, Governor Fubara approved the appointments of Barrister Eloka Tasie-Amadi, Professor Peter Medee, Barrister Emmanuel Frank Fubara, Hon. Victor Ekaro, and Dr Darlington Oji as Special Advisers.
The statement added that the newly appointed advisers are scheduled to be sworn in at 12 noon on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt, with attendees expected to be seated by 11:30 a.m.
