Rivers State Budget Drama: Assembly Members Unaware OF Fubara’s Letter, It’s Only On Social Media – Source Claims”

The Rivers State House of Assembly has adjourned indefinitely, raising new concerns about the state’s budget, which Governor Siminalayi Fubara had planned to present to the legislature on Wednesday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Fubara’s attempt to present the budget last Wednesday was blocked when access to the legislative quarters was denied, preventing him and his team from entering. The 27 lawmakers aligned with former Governor Nyesom Wike claimed Fubara had not followed the proper procedures for visiting the Assembly.
Just a day after sending a letter to Speaker Martin Amaewhule expressing his intention to present the 2025 Budget on March 19, 2025, or another suitable date, the House decided to adjourn indefinitely.
The governor’s team sees the adjournment as a deliberate attempt to block the budget presentation.
Chijioke Ihunwo, the dismissed Chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, accused the Assembly of intentionally hindering the process, saying, “Nobody can remove Governor Fubara,” and urged Rivers residents to continue supporting the governor.
However, a senior Assembly member, speaking anonymously, claimed the House had not received the governor’s new letter. “We only saw it on social media, and as of now, the House has not received the letter,” the lawmaker stated.
The source further minimized the significance of the indefinite adjournment, stating, “This simply means there is no set date for them to reconvene. It could be tomorrow, in a week, or a month. If they receive the governor’s letter, they may reconvene to consider it.”
At the plenary session, there was no mention of the governor’s letter, and instead, lawmakers focused on passing three bills, which were forwarded to the governor for assent.
