Sad Loss! Ogologomma Singer Papi Urhobo D!es After Battle With Illness

Nigerian musician Stephen Ebihor, popularly known as Papi Urhobo, has died following an illness.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the singer passed away on September 8, 2026, with news of his death announced by Urhobo Worldwide, a cultural and digital platform dedicated to promoting Urhobo heritage.

In a statement shared on Instagram on Tuesday, the organisation expressed sadness over the death of the musician, describing him as a brother, friend, colleague and fellow entertainer.

Urhobo Worldwide also appealed to fans, colleagues and members of the public to refrain from circulating unconfirmed information concerning the late singer’s burial arrangements until his family makes an official announcement.

The organisation appreciated those who supported Papi Urhobo during his illness and called on Nigerians to remember his wife and children in their prayers as they mourn the loss.

Before his death, Ebihor had spoken publicly about his health challenges following an accident that reportedly left him with a cracked bone and affected his ability to walk properly.

The musician subsequently appealed to Nigerians and well-wishers for financial assistance towards his medical treatment and surgery, expressing hope that the procedure would help restore his mobility. He later thanked those who responded to his appeal and contributed to his treatment.

Papi Urhobo gained recognition among Nigerian music lovers through his contribution to “Ogologomma,” a popular song by dancehall star Timaya from his 2007 debut album, True Story. His distinctive vocal contribution to the track helped him gain wider recognition during the early stage of Timaya’s music career.

The singer’s death has since sparked mourning among fans and colleagues who remember his contribution to the Nigerian music scene.

Papi Urhobo is survived by his wife and children. His family is expected to provide further information regarding his funeral arrangements.
